Station Manager ReportHey Radio People!
It feels like we've made it through the snowy time, and our lovely valley is heading for Spring! The Cave Junction Farmers Market will return to Jubilee Park soon, and KXCJ-LP is training new DJs and adding new programs to our line-up.... and another year(!) has come round again, and here we are: super-delish local food, music, beer and wine (and plenty of desserts!), and hanging out with your pals... all while supporting *two* very grassroots organizations that are-- along with many others-- building a healthier, more resilient, more connected, and more beautiful Illinois Valley!
Yes, the money we all pool together at the Fourth Annual Chili Cook-Off will go to support both the CJ Farmers Market and KXCJ. Both of these young community institutions are growing, and bringing new things, new music, new foods, and new skills to the people of this valley. Yes, it does take money-- and it takes the energy and imagination of new people getting involved at both of these quietly amazing projects, in whatever capacity suits you-- roll that possibility over in your mind, too.
It's this Friday, March 16, from 6pm to 9pm at the Kerby Belt Building, in downtown Kerby. We're asking a sliding-scale donation of $5 to $20 for all the chili and cornbread you can eat-- plus we have local beers from Tim Talty, Bridgeview's local wine and sumptuous desserts, too. There'll be music, and a silent auction with handmade crafts-- this evening can't be beat!
See y'all there!
